Testosterone

Testosterone is an androgen, or what is often referred to as a “male sex hormone,” but it also plays an important role in women’s health. While present at much lower levels than in men, testosterone is part of the delicate hormonal balance that leads to healthy menstrual cycles and a properly functioning fertility system, among other roles. It is important for proper sebum production and moisture maintenance in the skin. High levels of testosterone are often associated with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and its symptoms, including acne, abnormal hair growth, and infertility.
