Dihydrotestosterone (DHT)

One of the two androgens, or “male sex hormones,” DHT is produced in the ovaries and is made out of testosterone. More powerful than its more well known androgen partner, DHT is responsible for some aspects of female puberty like the growth of body hair. High levels of DHT can also result in excess hair growth, acne, and hyperpigmentation, common symptoms of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).
